  • Dive ComputerDive computer is a basic device used by the divers to get information about their dive profile to monitor decompression limits. How it works is by calculating the body’s nitrogen according to the diver’s depth and time, allowing for a diving profile that can be directly monitored by the diver. However, this existence of technology should not let us as divers abandon to know about how to use dive tables. Dive computers has transformed to more modern style nowadays, but all of they should still have the same main features.

However, this existence of technology should not let us as divers abandon to know about how to use dive tables.

    • Important Basic Information
Every dive computer should have information for the divers about current depth, dive time, ascent rate, maximum depth, decompression limit. That is why owning a dive computer can eliminate the need to have a pressure gauge and depth gauge.
    • Other Features may Include
Audible and/or visual alarms, user changeable batteries, pc downloadable to record dive log information and countdown for time to fly.
    • Air Integration Feature and 3-D Compass
Air integrated computers have the information about the remaining air in the tank by the transmitter attached to the tank valve. They have features that allow the diver to set alarms for turn around pressure or low on air pressure. Many will calculate time remaining for the dive based on the divers air consumption. Some also have 3-D compass feature.
    • Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN)
Besides air, divers can also enriched air which allow divers to stay longer underwater. However, it needs special certification to use this EAN. Many dive computers are configured for Nitrox use which allows the diver to use air or EAN. These dive computers offer all the same features of the air computers, but can easily be programmed for whatever mixture of Nitrox the diver is using.
    • Information about Time
Hoseless or wrist dive computer only provides information when being underwater, then it is just used by the divers when diving, and in off condition when not being used. But some of nowadays modern dive computers can be used not only underwater but also as watch, called Advanced Computer Watch. Some of them are D4, D6, D9 model from Suunto brand.
